OPINION: #ENDSARS PROTESTS & THE EVIL WITHIN

We all stand to convincingly agree that there is no replacement to peace. And that no matter how much two or more warring parties stay apart, they must come back on the table to discuss and resolve disturbing differences.

Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence.

In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict such as war, and freedom from fear of violence between individuals and group.

Therefore, peace is the desire of every beating heart. Peace is the hope of every Nation, Peace is the promise of every politician, Peace is the pulse of every religious tradition, and the goal of every prayer.

Peace is the bold, courageous and ultimate response to the notion that violence provides any viable solution for the conflicts of our world.

Peace is one of the most essential things we need to make us thrive. Without peace, it will be impossible for us to worship the one God we serve, it will be impossible for our children to learn in a conducive learning environment, it will be impossible for us to do our legitimate businesses, it will be impossible for us to even think of creating something so beneficial to our society.

Without peace, there will be riots and wars, and we all, will be too busy trying to protect our lives.

Therefore,  peace is a stress – free state of security and calmness that comes when there’s no fighting or war. Everything is coexisting in perfect harmony and freedom.

Looking at the new dimension the endsars protests is taking in some parts of the country, is far beyond seeking for justice from the reported cases of police brutality.

It’s now evidently clear that the hidden agenda is now physically in the open. An agenda of setting Nigeria ablaze, hiding under the so called endsars protests.

The endsars protests should have ended when the IGP made pronouncement several days ago disbanding sars. But the undesirable elements brought out their hidden agenda in the open, burning valuable properties, police stations, vehicles and killing innocent citizens, all in the name of the so called peaceful protests.

What everybody knows of peaceful protests is that it’s the act of expressing disapproval through a statement or action without the use of violence.

This type of protest has been used to advocate for a number of different causes, including human rights issues, anti-war campaigns and disapproval to various governmental policy issues. Some general methods include boycotting certain products, participating in a March or a sit – in a particular symbol only and handing out some flyers to the passer by people and possibly to government officials.

But this is a deadly protest, killing innocent citizens, setting valuable properties belonging to government, senior citizens and other private innocent citizens.

Violence, in history, has never produced good results, but rather continues to further ignite more crises in the land.

The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa iqamatis Sunnah, Jibwis-Nigeria, a responsible religious organization under the leadership of Sheikh Imam Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau, condemns this dastardly act by the so called endsars protesters. This unnecessary act no doubt, threatened the peaceful coexistence of this our country that belongs to all of us.

We need to learn from history. The real architect of Biafra agitation, Odumegwu Ojukwu, had at one time, shortly after the civil war, clearly stated that ” I proudly led the first civil war, but the second one is unnecessary.”

Violence and destruction has never achieved any success, but through peaceful coexistence.

Sheikh Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau however called on government to employ all necessary measures available to protect the lives and properties of all innocent citizens and to find ways of ameliorating the sufferings of the Nigerian masses, in addition to bringing to justice, all elements that trampled on the rights of the voiceless citizens.

While quoting from the patriotic statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari, 37 years ago, precisely in 1983, that ” this generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country than Nigeria, we shall remain here and salvage it together, ” I called on the entire Muslim ummah and indeed all patriotic Nigerians to always pray for the unity, peace and indivisibility of Nigeria as our country.
